2014 was one of the wildest years. To condense everything into one blog….a pretty impossible task, I have to say.
There was a time in my life (oh you know, that time when you knew absolutely every secret to unlocking the universe….) when words just came so naturally but as more and more time goes by, more “I Do’s” are said and more babies are born, emotion overwhelms me and steals away my very breath…until all I really feel I can do is share images. And so without further ado- I’d love to share with you just a few precious wedding moments that you guys have shared with us creating a bond we could never expect- you have each given us moments that overwhelm us in a great way and it’s such an honor to call ourselves your friends and photographers.
Goodbye 2014. We’ll never forget you. Also, goodbye, refined sugar. I mean it this time.
June 13, 2014: Our fiesty sister, Savannah, married the sweetest fella on planet Earth- Josh. He’s the yin to her yang and we not only were honored with being the photographers, but us and half of our kids were in the bridal party as well!
June 21, 2014: The fella that called us to be sneaky and film his day-before-Thanksgiving proposal came back to Nashville to marry his high school sweetheart- I can remember the feeling of dread that I felt when I took my last photograph and zipped my camera bag closed after Samantha and Chris’s wedding had ended. I couldn’t hug them long enough- their story, their funny friends, the ease we felt just being around them….complete magic. Their Hancock House wedding, their sweet Bubba (I found out this is northern speak for Grandma) and the light in her eyes when she looked at her little sweethearts, their “we’re finally married” smiles, all are very precious moments.
June 27, 2014: Catherine and Matt and romantic sparks everywhere. Roses flown in from Columbia, a brother/soldier walking Catherine down the aisle in respect for her Father who was a solider, the yellows and pinks and a small town full of big love- California meets Tennessee. It was perfect.
July 13, 2014: Molly and Randel. *smiles* Our princess Diana bride with a punk rock twist. A wedding by the Buffalo River with birds chirping, Mom beaming, and a Lord’s Supper by the thorn tree. The entire town of Columbia celebrated. We chased these kids all through the downtown streets of Columbia with our cameras and we recall it to be the BEST. DAY. EVER.
September 07, 2014: A mermaid married her marine. This was the day fairytales were made from- or “a gentle fairytale” and the bride hashtagged. I couldn’t wipe the stars from my eyes fast enough as the Front Porch Farms scenery filled my soul, Kathryn and Brandon’s loved ones sung a church hymn through the ceremony, the mermaid braid, seashell accents, notes from The Little Mermaid pushed me back into the wonder of a 10 year old, and daddy and daughter danced with merriment. I will never. Never. forget how much I loved this wedding. And the bridesmaids? I immediately wanted to be part of their entourage.
September 13, 2014: Elephant tails wagging like happy puppies- the day that Brianna and Brandon were married at The Nashville Zoo. Of this, I recall mostly the jokes and then the toasts- of all the ones I have heard, these had me crying harder behind my camera than is probably professional. Here’s to love…and T. Swift.
September 19, 2014: Kristen and Nikola. The girl who fell in love with the Macedonian guy who was at a party talking about pineapples. And seeing one of my 2009 brides, Lindsey. Hopping in the limo and going all through D’town Nashville for dream portraits. Soft smiles, amazing culture, a single place in the Earth and moment in time where all worlds seem to come together and be about 2 people who are in love.
September 20, 2014: When Brittany and Todd, a bridesmaid and a groomsman in a wedding (Becca and Eric’s) we photographed a couple years before were married at King’s Chapel. Brittany became the girl that showed up at bridal shows with a giant smile, a happy bounce, and bearing “Nothing Bundt Cakes.” Cats say meow. Babies say waaaaaaaaa. Brittany says EEEEEE.
September 27, 2014: When a bridesmaid and a groomsman became a bride and a groom on a big cattle ranch in Burnsville, Mississippi. Brittany fell right off of the turnip truck and straight into our hearts. She and Colton are sweet as strawberry pie and we can never ever forget their crafty work, cute ideas, and the support and love they show not only Frozen Exposure, but everyone that is lucky enough to know them.
September 28, 2014: Melody and Robert at King’s Chapel. Ah, the most subtle-y hilarious duo we’ve encountered. It was the best of times, a 90s dance party (think No Diggity), and the prettiest flowers and bride imaginable. The one liners were worthy of a movie script and the wedding was classic perfection.
October 4, 2014: When Hermica Buckner married Seyi Alalade. The presence these two carry together is stunning and their hearts are larger than life. We will never forget their grace, their zest for life’s moments, and the way that they are with all children and people in general. And if either one of them ever ran for president or even Mr. and Mrs. America- they would have our vote 110%. It’s no wonder this image of them grabbed the attention of so many magazines- words can do no justice to the majestic beauty of these two.
October 11, 2014: Elizabeth and Craig at Carriage Lane in Murfreesboro. True to Murfreesboro tradition, it rained. This didn’t keep Elizabeth from having the perfect wedding day. We will never forget the smiles, the fun portraits, and the magic of spending the day photographing (and video’ing) this sweet couple and also seeing our sweet Kelly and Jason (one of our sweet 2011 couples) in the bridal party!
November 08, 2014: Mallory and Corey. AH! Where do we start? The amazing, never before seen, jewel toned paper lanterns for days, the striking Elizabeth Taylor-esque look of the bride, the get away on a pedicab. PLEASE- I can not share this ENTIRE story with you guys soon enough and that’s what you have to look forward to on the blog. =)
Thanks so very much to all of our couples (and our portrait families) for an amazing 2014 that will remain big in our hearts forever. Happy first new year as husband and wife!
